MOBILITY CUSTOMER PRAISES EXCELLENT WORK ON VEHICLE CONVERSION

This month, Vic Young Conversions built a bespoke, specially adapted automatic Ford Tourneo Custom to meet the requirements of Motability customer and electric wheelchair user, Heather Rattray.

The conversion consisted of fitting a specialised custom steering wheel that allows the driver to control the throttle with only their hands. The brakes are also controlled via hand controls which are located just below the steering wheel. The standard handbrake was also removed and replaced with an electric button handbrake which is located on the dash controls (see below).

The large back door provides entry at the press of a button, with a hand held remote control that brings down the tail lift and allows the passenger ease of access into the vehicle (see above).

Heather provided us with a beaming testimonial: “The remote wheelchair loading is great for access into the vehicle. Vic Young fitted a full dock and locking system so that I can easily transfer myself into the driving seat from my chair… plus the wheelchair is safe and secure.

I am extremely pleased with the help and advice given by Vic Young during the conversion. It’s also worth mentioning the fact that I was offered a fully rotating drivers’ chair which would enable me to transfer minimally. I have been kept informed every step of the way.”
