VIC YOUNG MITSUBISHI UNITES RUGBY VOLUNTEERS IN THE NORTH EAST

As part of England Rugby and Mitsubishi Motors UK’s Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer of the Year Awards, Vic Young (South Shields) Ltd, held an event to celebrate nominees from local rugby clubs across the North East. Paul Cooper of Gateshead Rugby was announced as the finalist who will attend an awards dinner at Twickenham stadium in September. There, three overall winners will be announced and will receive the grand prize of a Mitsubishi vehicle for a year.

Launched in January this year, over 1,500 volunteers across the country were nominated by fellow club members, players and supporters. The Vic Young event was one of 42 events taking place up and down the country at Mitsubishi Motors dealerships – all hosting well-deserving volunteers for an evening to recognise their efforts.

Vic Young, Managing Director at Vic Young Ltd said “We were delighted with the evening – the turnout was great, it really highlights what a great job Mitsubishi are doing in supporting Rugby Union at grass roots level. Massive congratulations to all the nominees and especially to Paul Cooper who was named our Volunteer Finalist of the Year!”

Paul Cooper of Gateshead Rugby Club took home the grand prize of a finalist paperweight and a Newcastle Falcons Rugby Shirt presented by Dave Wilson, former England Rugby player. Paul said “It was great to be announced as the finalist. The volunteering work I do is something that I love doing, it’s not a chore when you’re so passionate about it.”

The Volunteer of the Year Awards is part of Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer Recognition Programme – a partnership with England Rugby which provides opportunities to recognise and reward the volunteers who make up an integral part of the game.

The Volunteer Recognition Programme builds on Mitsubishi Motors partnership with England Rugby, supporting the game from grassroots level all the way up to the senior squad. As Official Performance Partner, Mitsubishi Motors are also supporting the next generation of England players, as principal partner and front-of-shirt sponsor of the England U20s, U18s, and the National Performance Programme.
