Serious about safety - The MG Pilot suite of high-tech driver assistance technology gives you added confidence on the road. A selection of warning and alert features assists the driver, maintaining and simplifying everyday driving. Our MG pilot system comes as standard and uses an array of cameras and sensors to make driving safer and easier.
Adaptive Cruise Control monitors the road ahead. As long as the road ahead is clear, the MG4 will maintain the speed set by the driver. If the system spots a slower vehicle within its detection range, it gently reduces speed by releasing the accelerator or actively engaging the brake control system. If the vehicle ahead speeds up or changes lanes, the car will automatically accelerate back to the driver's desired speed.
When Adaptive Cruise Control is turned on, Traffic jam Assist continuously analyses the speed of the surrounding vehicles and compares it with its own driving speed. If the system detects dense traffic or a traffic jam at speeds below 35mph, the driver can activate this function. The MG4 EV will automatically follow the vehicle in front, controlling its acceleration, braking and steering within the same lane.
The MG4 EV will actively detect speed limit signs and alert the driver of the current speed limit through a symbol on the digital display. The symbol acts as a reminder to the driver, reducing the risk of exceeding the speed limit. Traffic sign recognition means you can always be confident of the speed limit - with the option to set a speed limiter.
At speeds below 12mph, the car will use Active Emergency Braking to automatically avoid a collision with a vehicle, bicycle or pedestrian. At speeds above 12mph, the system will reduce the likelihood or mitigate the severity of an accident.
When the headlight high beam is set to the AUTO position, intelligent high beam assist automatically switches to low beam when it detects a vehicle ahead. This enables drivers to maximise the use of high beams , making night-time driving safer without the risk of dazzling oncoming traffic.
An onboard camera detects lane markings ahead and monitors the MG4 EV's position in its lane. When the function detects the car is about to move out of its lane unintentionally, it warns the driver using a visual, audible, and steering wheel vibration. The car will also control the steering to keep within its lane.
This system keeps a lookout to help you change lanes safely. A radar sensor serves as BSD's electronic eye, registering objects in hard-to-see areas. Whenever there is a vehicle in the driver's blind spot, a visual signal will show next to the door mirror.
Changing lanes always requires concentration to ensure you have enough space to gently manoeuvre your vehicle. However blind spots can prevent the driver from having a clear idea of when it is safe to move. The Lane Change Assist (LCA) provides an additional, visible signal alongside Blind Spot Detection to alert the driver to a potential hazard.
When the vehicle is stationary, the Door Opening Warning system alerts the driver if there is a risk of collision if the door is opened. The system is able to monitor the sides and rear of the vehicle , giving a warning if an object is detected.
Everyone can agree that parking is a nightmare, but Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) makes it a little easier. It alerts the driver to any vehicle approaching them from either side when reversing so that they know when to reverse safely to prevent collisions.
